Key Insight 1: Leadership is Built Through Service
One of the biggest lessons I learned is that effective leadership begins with serving others. During my internships, I supported coaches, athletes, staff, and fans by completing tasks that contributed to the success of each organization. Whether I was organizing equipment, assisting with athletic department operations, or helping fans at professional sporting events, I learned that strong leaders lead by example, communicate effectively, and are always willing to help wherever they are needed.
This experience strengthened my confidence and reinforced that leadership is demonstrated through actions, reliability, and professionalism rather than job titles alone.

Key Insight 2: Teamwork Drives Success
Working in both collegiate and professional sports taught me that every successful event depends on teamwork. During my internships, I collaborated with coaches, operations staff, administrators, and fellow employees to ensure practices, games, and events ran efficiently. I realized that every role, no matter how large or small, contributes to the overall experience for athletes and fans.
These experiences improved my communication skills and taught me how to adapt quickly in fast-paced environments while working toward a common goal.
Key Insight 3: Hands-On Experience Shapes Professional Growth Â
The classroom provided the foundation for my education, but my internships allowed me to apply those concepts in real-world settings. Through equipment management, athletic administration, event operations, and fan engagement, I developed practical skills that cannot be learned through lectures alone.
These experiences confirmed my passion for sport management and prepared me for graduate school and a career in the sports industry. They also strengthened my problem-solving abilities, professionalism, and commitment to creating positive experiences for athletes and fans.
